Your phone buzzes at 10:30pm with a fresh wedding inquiry and you feel the pressure: respond now, or watch them book someone else. We talk through the part most DJs struggle with, not the first auto-reply, but the back-and-forth that follows. When couples start asking about uplighting, pricing, and availability, speed becomes the difference between “sounds good” and a signed contract. We share how an AI follow-up assistant can keep conversations moving overnight, how it learns your company details, and how you can wake up to warmed-up leads instead of missed opportunities.

Then we shift into community and craft: a DJ Collective announcement with a big closing-night opener, plus a pop culture minute on Olivia Rodrigo’s women-led festival and what stood out about the guest experience. From there, we get real about the work, including a corporate run that proves the money is out there, and a public “Throwback Thursday” that falls flat despite solid programming. The story turns into practical lessons on event pricing, room selection, and how to protect your value when the vibe is not vibing.

We also share a simple upgrade couples actually want: a QR code photo hub that collects guest pics in one place, even if you skip the TVs. Finally, we answer a sticky business question: what if a venue wants you on their preferred vendor list but not your team? We break down how we’d respond, what questions to ask, and how to use it as a training moment.

If you got value from this, subscribe, share it with a DJ friend, and leave a review so more working DJs can find the show.

AI Follow-Up For DJ Leads

SPEAKER_06

What's up, everybody, and welcome back to Beyond the DJ Booth Podcast. Are you paying attention, Brian B? Presented by presented by Lead X S, L-E-A-D-E-X-C-E-S-S, our new title sponsor.

SPEAKER_08

Love it. Love it. You know, they uh I think is it's important to kind of share how they work because I think a lot of people have some automation already set up probably in their DJ business in the sense of sure when a lead comes in, you probably are at least pinging them once or have some kind of like automatic email that hits, right? Yep. And so they're probably getting that first response, and that's not the problem that I don't think this solves. Their thing that they are solving is after they reply.

SPEAKER_06

Right.

SPEAKER_08

Like when they reply, now you're engaged in a conversation, and the problem that happens and what they solve, I think, is the ability for you not to have to get on your phone at 10:30 at night, or if you're in the middle of something, you know, with your family or whatever, yeah, and feeling the need to have to kind of converse back and forth to set up a meeting because you know, if you don't, they're looking at other DJs by that point, right?

SPEAKER_06

I mean, uh anything we've done, right? Anything we hear about this these days from the knot, wedding wire, Allenberg, this expert, that expert is first to respond, your probability of booking the show goes way up. Right. Way, way up. So yeah, next thing you know, you are you do respond. Let's just say it's the last thing you want to do before go to bed. And then they are asking about up lights or something like that. The beauty of the system, LeadX says, if you set it up right and answer all the onboarding and do all the things that Craig tells you to do, which he's gonna send you a bunch of questions and questionnaires to fill out to get this thing set up, this thing starts convert a conversation with this couple or with this bride and is answering a lot of these questions for you while you are sitting at dinner or while you are peacefully asleep. You know, like if I've got people that are that are getting married in North Carolina blowing me up from the West Coast, I'm not up at, you know, and they're doing that at 10 o'clock when they get home from work and the gym and dinner. Now it's uh it's it's whatever, it's it's 11 yeah your time. Yeah. I I'm not I'm I'm asleep, bro. Yeah, I'm asleep at 11. I'm not sick. Lights out. And but this this system is going back and forth. Right. Now, can they say, hey, am I talking to AI? Yeah, you are. This is um, I think our name, um, no, what's Brenda? No, it's a real girl that used to work here. Damn it, you messed me up. Sarah. I think it's Sarah. Um and yeah, they're just going back and forth. But I mean, yeah, it knows a lot of shit about our company at this point. Like we've trained it. Now, Randy probably jumps in there when he gets up every morning, sees these conversations that have taken place overnight, can interject, he can jump in, say some stuff, whatever he needs to. So the system is smart. Loving, it's got a brain that we train.

SPEAKER_08

So if someone wants to learn more about this, yeah, they need to go to lead access. That's e-x, c e s a i dot com to see how it works.

SPEAKER_06

Yep. Check it out, see how it works, set up a consult, whatever you need to do. If you are getting an abundance of leads and having a hard time of keeping up with them and responding fast, and again, from multiple sources, it doesn't have to be just email, then you need to check this out. It is your duty. Uh if you were not getting enough leads in the first place, this is probably not going to be a good fit for you. And I'll say just keep it moving and on with the show. There

Patreon Shoutout And DJ Collective News

SPEAKER_06

we go. Heard. Which is the Patreon.

SPEAKER_08

We need to shout out one of our latest members. Actually, he's a good dude. I know this guy, Adam Millman. He's coming to the uh DJ Collective. Nice, all the way my California. Yeah, Santa Cruz. You've been to Santa Cruz. Oh, you gotta go to Santa Cruz. Have I been there? Did you send me there when I was there a couple of months ago? I don't think so. No, this is a Northern California. Oh, it's not an OC thing. Not an OC thing. Santa Cruz Beach Town, baby. Yeah. Good little spot. Would I like it? You would like it. Okay. Shout out Santa Cruz. Yeah. Uh oh, big announcement. Big announcement. I'll let you take this one on. Big, small announcement.

SPEAKER_06

That was a short joke.

SPEAKER_08

We announced two of the closing headliners, but we didn't announce the welcome. I'm sorry, not the welcome, the opener, which I think this is a great pick.

SPEAKER_06

The opener for the closing night party on Tuesday. Ladies and gentlemen, the one, the only from SCE Event Group, Mr. Jeff Scott Gould, the squirrel, the energy maker. Dude, one of the best programmers I know. Filthy. Crazy DJ. You saw him in person, right? I saw him in person play Jan I's wedding masterfully. Right. I might add. Yeah. Number one, you're playing for a room full of DJs. Number two, you're playing for your boss. Number three, you're playing for Jason Jan I. Number four, Fat Man Scoop shows up out of nowhere and hands him like a RIP, shows, hands him a track and is like, now put this in the middle of the party. Yeah. I'm going to take my shirt off at a wedding in a cast and do a whole set. Like Jeff Scott is one of my favorite people in the whole industry, man. So he is coming to Raleigh, North Carolina. We locked that in, I don't know, just a few. A couple days ago. Yeah. And uh he is going to be the opener and then followed by Hamster Dance, followed by Justin Timberlake's official tour DJ, Andrew Hypes. That's it. That is a fucking killer party. That's a great party. And it's not a huge hosted by the one, the only Jason Janite. Will he be there? Jason. Will he be there? Will he be there? I think he will. He's got to be. We'll put his name on the fly. Jason, star of Willy Wonka.

SPEAKER_01

He's counting Netflix money. Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_06

Counting those Captain Netflix. Yeah. Uh we hope Jan I shows up. Yeah. If he's not hosting, are you? Oh, I don't know. I don't know. I usually can't speak by an hour or one.

SPEAKER_08

You mean I have to say past 11.

SPEAKER_06

You do. You gotta make it to the end. The party didn't go that late, though. That's true. No, it goes well, it goes to midnight. Yeah, you can make it a midnight.

SPEAKER_08

Let's hit the pop culture minute.

Olivia Rodrigo’s Festival Breakdown

SPEAKER_08

All right.

SPEAKER_04

Brian B. Jobon. Dropping heat just for fun. Pop talk spinning like a wreck of spine. Pop culture class where the stories collide. Two DJs bringing the flavor world wow.

SPEAKER_08

So, dude, there was a new festival that was out there. Did you see this this summer? I don't think so. It was Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival, put on by Olivia Rodriguez. Olivia Rodriguez. Wow. Now someone gave a little review of it that I pulled for you to kind of get a sense of it since you probably didn't go. He's uh questionable. I'm not a big uh festival guy. All right, here you go.

SPEAKER_03

Olivia Rodrigo's first time hosting her own music festival was the opposite of Messi. The Daisy Chain's Fields Music Festival was one of the most smooth first-time festivals ever. Let's discuss how accommodating it was to its guests compared to other festivals, how Cat's Eye made up for canceling their set last minute, surprise guests, tributes, and will it be happening again next year? So Olivia's music festival happened today, August 29th, and if you don't know, it had only women artists performing. And it can be risky starting your own music festival from scratch, but look at how beautiful and stunning an aesthetic. Taco Bell Pop. It looks like a utopia of women if men didn't exist. It's almost bringing back the boho chic of what Coachella used to be. It looks so welcoming and cozy. There's designated shaded areas, and they did put it having so many picturesque moments. Like they literally have a carousel. This looks like Disney, but it's the festival. Yet there's not a million influencers just trying to take pictures. There's free water and hydration stations everywhere. They're handing out cold towels, there's air-conditioned bathroom. And you know why it was so smooth? Because it was run by women. Remember Fire Festival that ruined people's lives was dangerous, and the people who ran it went to jail. Ran by men. Every artist had massive styles to do. We have an image of Bolivia's crowd. And every artist who performed here did it for free. That's insanely generous of them and makes me love all these artists more. They're doing that to support the nonprofits and charities that support women. Don't you was fully pink for the festival. The festival's theme was definitely pink. We had the pink Baja Blast. She showed out. Chapel and her were having this really cute interaction, like checking out her butt. So Katsai awkwardly had to cancel their set just two days before because Megan had a sprained ankle. And I guess we now know Katsai draws the line at only having three members present. Because they already had two members on hiatus. Megan got on stage and joked that, you know, now her ankle's on hiatus, so they can't perform. At first, it was only Megan and Yunche, and people were making funny tweets like, damn, I thought Lara would make the top two of Kat's eye. But Lara's driver was actually late. So she like ran on stage late. I really do think it's great that they still showed up to just show face to all the fans and like thank them if they did buy tickets on planes and hotels to come and see them. Olivia Rodrigo had the closing set. She actually performed the song Serena Joy for the very first time ever. And that song is actually like an anthem warning women to not support patriotical systems that would take away their rights. And she brought out three icons during this just one set. First, she brought out Sarah McLaughlin, who she said was her first one of my favorite artists performing at the festival. And they performed a tribute to Dolly Parton. Then she brought out Stevie Nix to close the whole festival by performing Landslide with her. And Olivia brought out Alanis Morissette to perform her Ironic Together. And Olivia announced at the beginning of the day that this festival has already raised $10 million. But then she got on stage and announced that Melinda French Gates is actually doubling every dollar raised at this festival. So now the best raised $20 million. I just want to thank Olivia Rodrigo. She did this whole festival for no profit. I'm sure she spent a lot of money to make it happen. She donated money from her last tour. She's only 23, but has been doing this for five years. Crazy, right? Olivia happily announced at the end that they are coming back for year two next year.

SPEAKER_08

The part that I love the most was when they had Sarah McLaughlin up there. I put that clip of her singing it with it.

SPEAKER_07

One of my favorite songs. I mean she sounds kind of like her too. Where was it? Her voice is one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_08

He was gone by then. Anyway, this was just like a week or so ago. Yeah. Wow. Crazy, right?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

The Nepo Artist Influence Debate

SPEAKER_08

So our Nepo uh artist, Stella Lefty. Who's she who is she, the daughter of Ian? She the Groupon guy.

SPEAKER_06

Which is kind of crazy in itself. I know, but does that I mean I know it counts, but like at least she's not like the daughter of like uh Rob Thomas or something.

SPEAKER_08

So they they they've been going deep into her catalog to see what other songs they because we showed you the one before, right?

SPEAKER_06

On a train back to Boston.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so check out this latest song. Here we go. And just uh we're gonna play you a little sample of this song. There's three of them three records that they say were heavily influenced by somebody else. Okay, okay. Here's the first one. So, what do you think that sounds like? You have any idea? Taylor Swift, a little Blake Shelton.

SPEAKER_00

You be the pretty man be the funny.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. Okay. Next one.

SPEAKER_00

People from seven of smokes in my coffee still cake is alive.

SPEAKER_06

What do you think? Yeah. I don't know. Little weedus. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Wow.

SPEAKER_08

Awfully uh heavily influenced here. I mean, and then this last one, see if we can get this one.

SPEAKER_00

Some picture of us in the back of your truck.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, this one's gonna this is a stretch, I think, but it could work. Cheryl Crumber? No.

SPEAKER_06

What is that defeat for family to the most? Jesus Christ. I mean, everybody's influenced by everybody, man. I mean, they're just getting on her about these, though, man. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

When it comes to like pop music and countries, it's only a few chords. Yeah. That's true. Yeah. All them Nashville songs are written by the same person. You're right. I mean, like, are we surprised?

SPEAKER_08

Right. No. The haters are out though, bro. Are they? They are out on which sucks. She's actually, I think, a good vocalist. And I like those songs. Her album's pretty good. Is it? Yeah. I need to listen to the whole record.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Yeah. Um on a train back to Boston and a Sunday night. Let's hit the story time. Okay.

Corporate Tour Money And A Dead Room

SPEAKER_08

So, man, I started doing a lot of corporates.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

This. For one company. For one company. Look at you. I'm on tour pretty much. Uh, by the time I do these, now I'm not even playing these. I'm literally doing tech work for these shows, but they're one day. Uh-huh. They pay very well. Uh-huh. And I'm just saying that the corporate business is out there right now. Oh, yeah. It's crazy. So at the time of taping, we just um got back from New Orleans to do the first of this like 14 city slate. Damn. But by the time this comes out, we'll have already hit Portland, San Diego, Atlanta, Seattle, and Denver. Damn. And with another, whatever, seven to go. So it's been crazy. But I just remember Christmas. Before Christmas. Good little extra little hit that I didn't expect. And it's during the week, bro. Write me a check. During the week. So speaking of gigs, I know you didn't do many, but you had one that I was hoping was going to be a crusher. Tell us about it. Oh, he's bringing it out if you're listening.

SPEAKER_05

He got a stinker.

SPEAKER_08

I was there. I can attest.

SPEAKER_05

On a train. Right to Boston.

SPEAKER_08

I would love to say you earned your money on that, but there was no money to be had. No, I'm I got paid. Well, that's right. There was. There was that. That was right. You negotiated the contract.

SPEAKER_06

That's right. That's right. There was that. Okay. This came about because Brian and I needed the venue for the DJ Collection. For the closing party. The closing party. So we reached out to this place downtown where a lot of people were going to be staying, that we had done some weddings at, my company. Brian had never been there. We went, looked at it, he was like, it's perfect. And so we started a conversation with them. And at the same time that we were having a conversation with them, they were realizing that they wanted to do some public events.

SPEAKER_07

Right.

SPEAKER_06

To either make money, raise awareness, whatever. So we basically traded a portion of our talent fee to get the venue for low cost. You were going to trade it all. I was. But I said, nah, nah. Nah. Brian B said, you're missing the value conversation that I've had with you before, my boy. So it's only been nine seasons. It's only been nine nine seasons of podcast talking about value. So Brian ends up negotiating us to do these two public events and get paid and get the venue for a deeply discounted rate. So shout out Brian B on this one. But Saquon had to work that night. So Brian was my assistant, which he was happy to do because I did that thing with him in Florida. So he comes and hotter than the load, it's hotter shit. It was sometime in August. We actually got a decent night by the time the sun went down, to be fair. Once we were set up, it wasn't rained earlier in the day, I believe. It did and it cooled it off. And it just here was the problem, man. The ticket was like $37 for a Thursday night event. Now, I will say it included food and photo booth, and there was like a craft mall. We got a drink ticket too, right? A drink ticket and a DJ. And it just, I think it was overpriced. The food was actually good. Um it was outside in a courtyard that probably would have held 500.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

That was the problem. It should have been inside where we're having our party and they had maybe 75 people. I would say 35 of the people were my friends or future brides. Yeah. I don't know if it helped or hindered me by inviting them. Oh I don't think I hindered. Okay. I I actually was worried about that. But they all came up, we're like, hey, you know, we just came out to see you, and you know, you're doing our wedding next May or whatever, whatever. And there was a theme. There was a theme, it was throwback Thursday. So I programmed it late, late 90s, early 2000s, like pre-2010, I guess.

SPEAKER_08

Your first 30 to 45 minutes were awesome.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. Yeah. Those are the ones you could tell how you'd put the work in. I did. I did. And then I think I just ran out of time. And or patience, or it was just trying to turn the corner.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And and like I I still kept it throwback, but I I went to standard stuff that I play at a wedding that I know works from that era. Just to try. I thought it would turn the corner at least to where we could get some decent imagery. I I think the best song, the only big song of the night was what um Cupid Shuffle or Chocolate Live. One of the others. One of the other. And I was like, at this point, I don't have anything to lose.

SPEAKER_08

Homeboy brings out his cannon. Yeah. He's going to use the cannon. And I go, hey, when are you going to deploy it? Yeah, I think that might help turn the corner if you just go ahead and just deploy it.

SPEAKER_06

Cook $35 worth of gas. I was like, I said, I said, go ahead and break that thing down. Brian put it back in the case before the end of the show. But but we what but uh but I did pull a Brian B trick though, ran the whole show off the track off the Jackery. The Jackery. Yes, I did for the first time.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Two Evox 12s full DJ booth off a Jackery 2000, Explorer 2000 V2. I think it went to what? Like 78.

SPEAKER_08

60%. Okay, I couldn't remember. Something like that. It wasn't much. A lot of juice left. For three hours, right? And you were pushing it. Oh, I was pushing it hard. Yeah. Raying like a boss. I did get them pretty good though at the end. Uh, because I said uh Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, at the end, it was pretty much you playing for like us. Oh, yeah. I mean, just like people were gone. They were like, you know, so it's like a Thursday, 10 o'clock at this point. So like five minutes left. I go, hey man, the owner's wanting to see if you'll go another hour.

SPEAKER_06

Bro, and I think I wish it would have been on 360. Because I think I literally go, I think I went fuck off or something like that.

SPEAKER_08

But I played it pretty pretty straight. Oh man, that was crazy. But the day that this comes out, we'll be both together. Oh, you're going to that? I am. I didn't know you were going. Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Are you going to the conference that goes along with it? No. Just the Wednesday. Have you ever been to that conference? No. You think one of us should go?

SPEAKER_08

Uh maybe. Yeah. This is the just the but this is after the conference, right? This isn't connected to that. I don't think. This is his own company thing. It is, but it's it's It's because they're down there. Yes. Right.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_08

So Malik is throwing a party, his company curate, and they're doing it in Miami Beach. I any chance I can get down to Miami Beach in the fall. It's kind of what I was thinking. You know what I mean? For a night. Yeah. And uh take a breeze. Yeah. Quick little well did you breeze it? I breezed it. Yeah. I think I breezed it. Okay. We might be on the same flight. How long are you staying? One night. I gotta go.

SPEAKER_06

I gotta get out of there. I may change it and go to the actual conference. Okay. Just to see something different.

SPEAKER_08

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Different than a DJ conference.

SPEAKER_08

I like it.

SPEAKER_06

Anyway. I can't remember the name of the conference. Can you? I've seen you the website.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, yeah, I love it. It'll look good.

SPEAKER_06

Anyway.

SPEAKER_08

Hey, I talked

Miami Trip Plans And Conference Talk

SPEAKER_08

to uh CP the other day. Yeah. And CP from S start. Yeah, that's my dog. I'm starting to really get into it. He called me up and he's like, hey man, how are you doing with this? You're becoming a power user. Yeah. Well, the problem was I don't have a lot of gigs right now in August. I mean, they're not using this. And I said the other thing too for me is I just the the the cumbersome of bringing the TVs with me is a little much. That's just my own personal thing. Now, does it have value for it for the person? Yes, absolutely. He goes, Hey, you know you don't have to bring TVs. I said, What are you talking about? How are they gonna see the images? Yeah, like they use it for the gallery piece. So, in other words, you can take just the thing that says, Hey, it won't be on the screen. Sure, right, but use this and they can they're gonna do it anyways. They're gonna take the photos anyways, it just creates a spot for it all to be involved.

SPEAKER_06

So they take a photo of whatever, whatever during the night, the couple getting married, a selfie of them on the dance floor. And they're in what?

SPEAKER_08

They see the QR code that is on the display on the side. Could be anywhere.

SPEAKER_06

Could be on your booth, could be anywhere. On the cocktail round, right?

SPEAKER_08

Dining room. You might even want to mention it. Barce. Shout out by the DJ. Okay. Yeah. Scan that. And what's that what you're what you're solving for them is still the ability to have one curated place for all those photos to go, a hub. Rather than trying to call all your friends and be like, yo, send me the goods for the fruit. Send me the stuff. Right. They have it all there. Aggregator. Yeah. And that is something that could be worth still a value to them that would be payable. Now, maybe you're not going to get 500 bucks for it or whatever you're going to charge for it. But even if you charge 250 for it, you're doing a service that they're taking something off their plate that they have to do. 100%. So, anyways, I was pretty stoked on that. Because you've tried this particular thing allegedly with without the TVs, haven't you? Or no?

SPEAKER_06

I did it um at the beach last summer. We did it with no TVs. Yep. And we got a bunch. Like at the end of the night, because I didn't know we put the um little yeah, because you can't see QRs around. Yeah. Yeah. So you're just hoping. We weren't really checking it. We were DJing. And it was one of those crazy weather days. We were kind of running around like it was just kind of a messy day outside. But we got back to the hotel room. He and I stayed down at the beach and that night, and I I looked and I was like, damn, people really were into this. Like they used it. And there was a screen. That's without the screen. Yeah, there was no screens. Which is great. We were in a tent right out back of the country. Totally. And I don't have screens. And to be honest, we were literally, they tried to make us set up on grass. Right. Wet grass. Right. And we ended up moving on to that. Remember that white dance floor? I had a picture of that Labrador or whatever on it. Yeah. I was like, I ain't setting up on the grass. Yeah. Like it was soaking wet, muddy as shit. Yeah. Anyway, so no TVs, and it still went gangbusters. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I didn't know it could do that. So I just wanted to bring it out to anybody listening that if you thought about Estard, I know I talked about with the screens before, maybe you didn't have one. This could still work. I'm gonna try it out at my next event because I like this better than having to bring a TV that could crack if you don't have the right case and all that.

SPEAKER_06

I do think

QR Photo Hub Without TV Screens

SPEAKER_06

it'll pop off more so when the when they're scrolling through the images at the party. Totally. Right. Totally. What's it's a music? Yeah.

New Music Picks And DJ Edits

SPEAKER_04

I wanna know. I wanna know.

SPEAKER_08

Um played some tracks that I'm using at gigs. Okay. These are some ones I think you should have in the library. I don't think you know all of these, to be honest. I probably don't. Now I'm gonna be honest with you. I gave you the Olivia Dean hookup early. I called that way early and said this song is gonna be big.

SPEAKER_06

As if it as if it was a family member and you were hyping her up her career. Like you were that early on the train. So I got another one like that. Hold on, time out. Are these gonna be available anywhere?

SPEAKER_08

Oh, yeah. We're putting them in the Patreon in the back room for the bonus content, these tracks with the actual file.

SPEAKER_06

The actual file. Y'all hear that? We're not even doing the wink wink shit anymore. Patreon.com slash beyond the DJ booth podcast. Rip that band aid off. Rip it right off and roll it.

SPEAKER_08

So this song, this is the new Olivia Dean. Okay. I'm telling you, she's good. So is this not on the record that she has that did something? This is not Olivia Dean. A new artist. Oh, I see what you're saying. The new Olivia Dean. I got you. Damn, Brian called up again. What's her name? Her name is Aliana Ali. Aliana Ali. I love her vocal. Okay. Cool. Here you go. Dinner track. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

I'm starting to think that my soulmate died in 75.

SPEAKER_08

Little Amy Wyattish.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm starting to think that these boys just wanna eat me alive. I know I'm heavy metal, but I still get send them and don't want somebody holding me through the nine. Many say they'll love me, but nobody's ever treating me right. If you wanna be my man, yes, yes, sir.

SPEAKER_08

I could listen to this on repeat, bro. That is fire. Song is called House Broken. Is the whole record out? Oh, yeah. It's got albums like that? Yeah. Spell the name.

SPEAKER_06

Spell her name.

SPEAKER_08

Uh A I L L Yana. Y-A-N-A. L Yana Lee.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

I love her. Put it on your radar. Yeah. I love her. Alright, this song has blown up on the socials. Okay. I played it for dinner. This is the new Puerto Rico for me. Oh, Jesus Christ. Is it real or AI? It is real. Okay. The name of the artist is Jamie Miller. Okay. The song is called Baby Doll.

unknown

Bring it on.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, I know this song.

unknown

Bring it on old Vuggy.

SPEAKER_08

Put it in your dinner set, bro. People were going eight when I played this. I couldn't believe it was that big.

SPEAKER_04

Bring it on old Veggy. Let me make myself big. If someone's gonna hug me.

SPEAKER_08

Shout out Trago for turning me on to this. Now it's on my feet everywhere.

SPEAKER_06

So white dude, right?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

That's all good. This came up on my TikTok, I think.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, you're on the TikTok train again. Back.

SPEAKER_06

Can't do it all.

SPEAKER_04

That's a good feel-good song, yeah. Dude, everybody's singing along to it.

SPEAKER_05

The song's gotta be you.

SPEAKER_08

It's a good track. Yeah, it is good. So put that in your dinner set. Okay. Number two for the fall. Now, this third one, walk in. My boy Neo song, So Sick. I love it. This is a little uh blend by Marty Marr. Okay. Disco blend. Play it while people are walking in. Okay.

SPEAKER_04

Gotta change my answer in shit.

SPEAKER_08

Oh my god, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Now that I'm alone.

SPEAKER_06

You already sent me this right now. I moved into doors open last night. Remember that those tracks you said? I finally went through. Finally. I was watching football yesterday.

SPEAKER_08

I got a great reaction when I played it. Yeah. Doors open. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Walking.

SPEAKER_06

Akon. I mean no. Neo. Neo. I always get I always stayed the same because they were on tour together. Right. Neo. 118. He was basically boning on stage. Neo or Akon? Neo. Akon had no girls. Neo had all the girls. Okay, okay. He was doing it. Literally. So I've been getting the song. I was like, I think he's I think they're humping. Jeez. Saquon's dying.

SPEAKER_08

So I've been getting the song without you, the Geta Neo track. A lot of requests. Are you getting that song a lot?

SPEAKER_06

Unusually so. You know that's like the era of like golden age EDM that I love the most.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. Well, there's this blend out there by Pat C that I've been using at late night or peak hour, I'd say. Okay. With it's a play on the word, so it's kind of a word play without you with Avici. Okay. This is it.

unknown

I will run. I will run. I will never make it.

SPEAKER_08

Because the other one's got the original's good, but this one's kind of good when you're like peak hour. Playing all those house records. Oh, what is it? Once you hear the break. Oh nice.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

So say street of the original, too. It doesn't go crazy. No. Are you an LF Ella? What? Are you an LF? Ella Langley.

SPEAKER_06

Sure.

SPEAKER_08

You were you were kind of on that shoes in Texas for a hot minute.

SPEAKER_06

I can't get out of your head, right?

SPEAKER_08

I can't get it out of my head. So this is a uh a uh D-Rock blend. D-Rock uh does a lot of these like EDM ones. Yeah. This is beher with uh Sweet Nothing. Okay. Played this. Crazy. If they like country, yeah, this blend works. And they like the EDM stuff. Yeah. See what you think. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

She drinks one by the glass, not by the ball. She ain't stuck on the past. I ain't worried about tomorrow. She's a lover, a mother, a sister in life.

SPEAKER_08

So I made my own edit of this that goes into the original Sweet Nothing after this little vacation. Says just one sheet.

SPEAKER_04

She don't need paladin.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just following her so bad.

SPEAKER_08

That's where you blended it with yours? No, that that has that. And then from that chorus or that break or whatever, I go into the sweet nothing. And you're sharing that with us? Yeah. It's on the Patreon. Banger. Wow.

SPEAKER_06

If they love LL, then LFL. LFL. Then it goes crazy. It goes crazy. I like that one. So you can get it on the Patreon. I love that. If you join. Patreon.com slash beyond the DJ Booth Podcast.

SPEAKER_08

I just don't have a time. I can cut things down, I can retweak them, but to actually make them, I would be too much of a perfectionist, I think. I've messed with it, but I'm not I'm nowhere near like a scooter level in terms of the production piece. But do you ever hear ideas like that and then you just table them? Yeah. I'm definitely not as quick as those guys are in terms of thinking of it.

SPEAKER_06

Do you ever come up with ideas and like call like Drew or somebody? All the time. Gotcha. I figured you did. Anyway, does he make them? Yeah, he does. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

He'll do something.

SPEAKER_06

Do you usually call Drew first? Yeah. I got the inside hookup. Right. Shout out Drew Pierce. Shout out DMS. Question of the day.

Preferred Vendor List Only For You

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Question of the day.

SPEAKER_06

A venue wants to have me on their preferred vendor list, but only me, not any of the guys that work for me. Do I do it? And just book myself when I can. Question mark. Richie Steadman from Salt Lake City, Utah. Shout out, Richie Stedman.

SPEAKER_08

What a douche move though. They would literally tell you that, like, hey, we just we don't like any of your guys. Just we want you. Ouch. Like I that would be a conversation I'd want to have with them. Like, hey, what's wrong with the guys? Like, are they doing something like way, you know, like I I mean, yeah, you're not gonna be good. They're not gonna be, yeah, but that's kind of like something's up. They can't be the only venue that's thinking that, I guess is my point. If someone's thinking that, there's other venues that are thinking that too. So I would at least have the conversation. But to your question of do I do it and just book myself, yeah, why not? Yeah. That's what I was gonna say. Like I give up a referral. Me neither. No, I may not be available. That's why I'd want to find out. Like, hey, what's what are you seeing in the guys that's not there? Why don't you like Bob or Cindy or whatever? Now in my head, I'm just thinking maybe it's price point if they're priced the same. I can't remember his model there. But if they're priced separately and he's up here, well, there's a reason why he's better than everybody else.

SPEAKER_06

I would hope. I don't know. But yeah, I would I would definitely not reject the offer of getting on the list. Right. I guess I just And if they call and say, Hey, you know, you and only you available on October 3rd, you're just yes or no. Yeah. So get it in early.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. I don't know. That's the other kind of the conversation I have. It's like that's why I have a team.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Because we want to, you know, bring the brand to you guys' venue, but there must be something that's a good thing. That's actually a great point.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, that there is a conversation to be had here. And if he has this kind of relationship with them, then they should have no problem being forthcoming and candid about why they don't like. I don't know if he has two guys, five guys, whatever, but like you have to you you gotta run me through why, because maybe it's a training moment. Right. Maybe it's a moment where you can, you know, go, okay, well, I can fix that. Like we would like to be recommended as a company, as a whole unit. Let me fix that. Let me work with them on their emceeing, let me work with them on their programming. Right. Anyway, shout out Richie Stephen. Let's

SPEAKER_06
