And you got some foliage in here. I got a real plant. I got a corn plant. It'll probably die, it'll. It may or may not die. We could go artificial eventually, if this can, if this carries on, it could go artificial.

They say you need to have a trailer, so let's talk about what do you want to talk about first? You want to talk about why. Let's talk about why we're doing this. What is your why? there's so many? Uh one, I just have done podcasting for the last six years myself. Has it really been that long?

1:31 Six years, dude, geez, bro, and I don't think people realize if you really want to do it right. Yeah, there's a lot of work that goes into it. Yes, and there's only so much I could sub out because I'm just such a control freak with it. Right right. So now that we have dual people who have the same quality control standards, let's say, I feel like we're going to figure out how to make this work in a way where it's not all on one person to do Not that it ever was for you, but for me it was Sure, sure, and so it's great to be able to kind of bounce ideas off of one another and not feel like I got to carry everything by myself as one that's probably my primary reason. What about you?

2:11 Man. For me, the why is a couple of reasons. Really, the why is because you're here. You know what I mean. Like, for those of you who don't know, brian B has lived here. Has it been almost two years, almost two, yeah, and you know he's probably 15 minutes from the office. Yeah, you got two people that are In the same space but different space. Yeah, totally kind of different shows come at things from different angles. And I, just as much as I loved Mike Walter I'm like touching these books as if he's no longer with us. He's definitely still with us. As much as I love Mike. It's hard, same as you, doing it solo. It's hard when you're not sitting here having a conversation.

2:52 It is, you know, dealing with internet issues or you know, talking to each other through zoom, and we did it probably five years or more as well. I mean, we're right at 300 episodes and we did it almost every single week without fail right and it just became not fun, or or I don't even want to say that it was great to talk to mike every week, but it was almost like we got to the end and we're like this seems like the natural stopping point. I think we've said it all and the other wise just to help djs. Yeah, you know what I mean. This. This is going to be, um, that kind of podcast, so let's parlay that into what are we going to talk about? Like what? Why do people want to listen to joe bunn and b Brian B talk shit every week?

3:36 Well, I was just going to say one last thing about you. Know why I feel like you hit that cougar slash. You know boomer generation, so you'll really be able to bring in that audience, whereas I'm going to be kind of with the young bucks. You know what I'm saying how? old are you now Really? How old are you now Seriously? Tell people 40 plus 40 plus, okay. But we got enough of a gap there. There is, there's a gap. There's definitely a gap. Okay, I'll take my audience. I love that audience. So what are we going to talk about? What is the point? I think you kind of hit on it just a minute ago, like we come at the business differently, but both have been somewhat successful.

4:16 So I'm not saying that they have to go my direction or your direction. It could be a hybrid or maybe it's just a confirmation that they're on the right path. But for me another why, but also kind of parlaying into what we're going to talk about I feel like I want to help DJs. I mean gosh, what I feel like I want to help DJs. I mean gosh, what a great opportunity to record content that hopefully is somewhat evergreen, that can stand the test of time, right. Yeah, I think that that's, you know, been my mission for the last 15 years. I mean, I've spoken at countless conferences, I've written for all the magazines, the newspapers, you know, done the podcasting, uh, done the DJ's vault, like that has really been.

5:01 And I'm still playing shows as well, all in the mean, all in the meanwhile, still playing shows and I think that gives me credibility with the listeners or the watchers of the video is like oh wait, he's actually still out there doing it, instead of just talking about something I did 10 or 15 years ago. You know what I mean, and that's again another reason for this to come back to the platform, to come back to podcasting, and I feel like this time I really want to. I felt like that from last week when I started ordering this stuff, started putting up this wood wall, I was like, if we're going to do this, let's do it the right way.

Let's get some people to sponsor it, let's let's just do it bigger, better than either of us have ever done it. You know what I mean If I'm going to come back to it like let's just not half-ass it, and so let's talk about a little bit about the format. So I think one of the main things that you and I both agreed that was going to make this doable and not, you know, eat up a bunch of time, was to take questions from the listeners right yeah, and so we've already teased that out. Really, uh, on a google form that we put out a few days ago already have tons of great questions coming in before we've even dropped this trailer episode.

6:27 Uh, what else are we going to talk about? I? mean music has to be. For me that's like got to be in there and I feel like man again. that was one of the reasons, like because I had this idea of coming back to the podcast, I had idea of doing it solo and I was like man again. I can't carry this thing alone. I don't think I'm a very good rambler like who else could I bring in? And I feel like you are so good at time management, with your day and setting aside time and going bro, I've got to spend an hour today like digging through these record pools or whatever, and so on that part of this podcast, I think I'm going to have to rely on you because you are so good at just pulling just absolutely random bangers, whether they're edits or mashups or an actual just track from like hey man, have you ever heard this band?

7:17 And I think I think you're really good at that and I'm almost better at these are the songs I ride around and listen to. Yeah. These are not going to be songs that I'm going to play at a gig, you know, whether it's a fashion thing or wedding or whatever, I think I'm really good at just finding these bands like I'm in love with. Let me show you this yeah, you know what I mean. So that OK, and what else? What else are we going to talk about? I feel like one of the things that is masked or hidden from the general public for fear of embarrassment or just who knows. Yeah, but like gig stories, like the war stories from the weekend, yes, things that just come up and you know, I I don't I'm not putting like a halo on me or whatever, but like there are times when people feel like that couldn't have happened to you, couldn't happen to joe bunn, like this is like he's too good at, like these things wouldn't happen.

8:11 And things happen all the time, absolutely right? I think it's. It just shows your, your human nature, your vulnerability. I'm I'm completely aware that I don't play perfect shows every time. I think you know you're the same, you're willing to admit when something goes right. But in adjacent or in addition to the gig stories or the war stories, I think we tell the beauty of it too. You know, like man, let me tell you about this father-daughter dance this past weekend, or whatever, like I feel like you have to highlight the good stuff when you tell the bad stories as well. You know what I mean. And just when you think you've seen it all been through it all like there's always something new that pops up, and I think also that experience of years in this business gives you an idea of, like, how we're thinking about when we run into these things, how we would address it.

8:59 So it saves people that time of having to learn it on their own and and trying to figure it out. Hopefully we can help inspire in that direction Right A hundred percent. I mean that was a whole reason for creating the DJ's vault. I mean I was like I want you to do all the things right that I did and then everything I did wrong. I'm going to tell you what I did wrong. Please don't do these things because they cost me money or, you know, ran me broke or ran me crazy or whatever they were. And that was the whole really basis of those original djs vault ads like, let me, I've already made the mistakes. I'm gonna tell you how not to make them like you don't want to do it like this, here's the way you want to do it. And that was the whole basis of that.
